Innate skills
Every demon in Vengeance has one innate skill: a passive that belongs to it and cannot be inherited or removed. It is shown on the demon's page and in the team builder, and you do not need a skill slot for it.
Innate skills are what make two demons with similar stats play differently. There are about 160 of them, and they fall into a few families:
| Family | Example of what they do |
|---|---|
| Damage | more damage with an element, or against foes with an ailment |
| Critical hits | a higher critical chance, sometimes for magic too |
| Reactions | strike back, heal or buff when something happens in battle |
| Ailments | better odds to land ailments, or protection from them |
| Press turns | an extra icon in the next phase after some event |
| Magatsuhi | more gauge, or a stronger Magatsuhi skill |
| Swaps | cheaper or free Summon, effects when the demon comes in |
For example, Hand You're Dealt raises critical chance, and Trickery makes your other demons' innate skills trigger more often.
Reading the opponent
Innate skills are part of the demon, so they are public: in the team preview you can look up every enemy demon's innate skill before the battle starts. Do it, because some of them punish exactly the attack you planned.
