Buffs and ailments
Buffs and debuffs
SMT V buffs are smaller and do not last:
- attack, defense and accuracy/evasion go up or down by at most 2 ranks;
- a buff or debuff lasts 3 turns; casting it again refreshes the timer;
- attack: ×1.2 at one rank, ×1.4 at two; defense mirrors it (×0.8 and ×0.7 damage taken);
- the basic Tarukaja, Rakukaja and Sukukaja target one ally; Matarukaja and the other Ma versions, and Luster Candy, target the whole team.
Charge and Concentrate
Charge makes the next physical or St-based attack deal ×1.8 damage, Concentrate the next magic attack. The effect waits until it is used, so you can charge now and strike on your next phase.Ailments
SMT V ailments have no fixed duration. Each turn an afflicted demon has a chance to recover, and the chance grows with every turn the ailment lasts.
| Ailment | Effect |
|---|---|
| Poison | loses HP after each of its actions |
| Sleep | cannot act; a hit wakes it up |
| Panic | 50% chance each action to do nothing or attack its own side |
| Charm | 50% chance each action to do nothing, or to buff or heal the enemy |
| Seal | can only use the normal attack |
| Mirage | half accuracy, and its single-target attacks may hit someone else |
A demon that is asleep, panicked or charmed is always hit, and it cannot counterattack. The chance to land an ailment depends on Luck, the attacker's Ailment potential and the target's resistance, and it drops each time the same ailment is landed on the same target again.
