Smirk
Smirk is a short-lived status a demon can get after something good happens to it:
- it lands a critical hit, or
- it nulls, repels or drains an attack aimed at it.
When that happens there is a 50% chance the demon starts to Smirk. The status lasts until that demon's next action, whatever the action is.
What Smirk does
| Effect | Details |
|---|---|
| Attack buffs count as maximum | the demon hits as if it had Tarukaja at full rank |
| Critical chance | 95% for Phys attacks, 70% for Gun |
| Accuracy | normal attacks and physical skills always hit |
| No weaknesses | hits on the demon's weaknesses deal normal damage and do not give the attacker an extra turn |
| No critical hits against it | attacks on the demon cannot crit |
| Whole team Smirking | if all 4 of your active demons Smirk at once, each of them gets back half of its max HP and MP |
Any ailment stops a demon from getting Smirk and removes Smirk at once. Ailment skills are therefore also a defensive tool against a Smirking enemy.
Playing around Smirk
- A Smirking enemy has no weaknesses until it acts, so on your phase hit someone else first.
- Smirk on your side lasts through the opponent's phase if the demon does not act: a demon that Smirked at the end of your phase is safe from its weaknesses during theirs.
- Blocking an attack can make your demon Smirk, so a demon that nulls, repels or drains the opponent's main element is doubly annoying for them.
